She whimpered, every muscle in her body wailing in strain, the overexertion of power leaving her weak; defenceless. Turning away from their vengeful gazes, the princess glanced down at her chest, sorrowfully noticing the fresh pink scars around the fading blue light. She had heard of many powerful immortals having auras visible to all those around them; Darkous having one that resembled the darkest nights and the deep swirling black holes. But, she had never heard of one so colourful. A blue aura was something unknown to everyone present, something they had yet to learn of. Though, what did it mean? Was it a sign of goodness? Or a warning of something sinister and evil?

The melody rose through the blizzard, curling around my ribs like invisible fingers. My eyes drifted toward the edge of the iceberg, toward the base where the voice came from. “Manolya?” Pelin’s voice echoed faintly behind me. “What are you—?” I stepped forward, each step crunching on the ice. And there she was. Pisces. The great oarfish, long and slim, her silver body rippling with crimson stripes and black spots. Her head bore a red crest. She dove down again, and the enchanting melody stopped.
