I checked on my fairy man, lifting the lid of the chest, and he fluttered free, wheeling pirouettes around my head. “Oh, wonderful!” I was pleased for him. “I am so glad you see you’re feeling better.” The seed must have done the trick, I thought, whatever magic it had contained. He came to settle on my shoulder, chatting happily into my ear. “I really wish I could understand you,” I told him.
