Marked by My Fiancé's Brother
"A man who leaves such a woman this lonely must have either very grave matters on his mind — or very poor judgment."
Warmth creeps up my neck, and I steer us back to safer waters. A few hours pass in the blink of an eye.
Cracking another joke, Lazar waves his hand, and the light catches a green bracelet on his wrist. At first glance, jade — but the longer I look, the more the colour shifts, light green to deep forest. Or maybe it's just the light.
"Do you like it?" Lazar asks, sliding it off.
"It's beautiful," I reply — and my eyes widen as he takes my hand and slips it onto my wrist.
