CHAPTER 61 CHRIS I couldn’t sleep all night. Everything Bella said made no sense and yet it explained so much. As I turned the possibilities over and over again in my mind, it began to make even more sense. Her behavior at the funeral, the altercation at the jewelry shop, her uneasiness at the award night, where Mason proposed to Claire, the iCloud name on her phone, and everything that happened afterward. Do I want to believe this? Can someone be reborn? I know I’ve heard and seen a lot of mysterious things but this one tops the chart.

He knelt beside me, his hand reaching for mine then hesitating when he saw the faint glow under my skin. “I don’t know,” I whispered. “He said… he said they made me.” Alexander’s jaw clenched, his gaze darting to Richard, who was coughing against the shattered glass wall. “Who did this?” he demanded. Richard’s smile was a crimson smear. “Ask your father, Knight. Ask him what Project Rebirth really was.” The words hung like a blade in the air. Alexander froze. “What did you say?” Richard’s laughter echoed through the smoke. “You think she was born again by chance?”

My head felt light, "Tokyo? He just ran away? The Richard I know doesn't just run away. He fights. He doesn't accept defeat." I thought about my past life, the one I had been reborn from.
