Violet chimed in, then she suggested, "Why don't I ask Carla to bring you some new clothes? There's a cheap costume shop downtown. I heard they have stocks left for this year's Halloween."
Wane and Violet giggled annoyingly, their laughter like nails on a chalkboard. Charity felt her blood boil, hot rage surging through her veins. Her hands trembled at her sides, and she had to physically clench them to keep from doing something she'd regret.
The urge to wipe that smug smile off Violet's face was almost overwhelming.
Still, she kept her composure. Years of training, years of being in the public eye, had taught her that. She lifted her chin and met their mocking gazes with icy calm.
