Novel & Cerita Romance Novels Reading

The rest of the class goes by in a blur, and I do my best to focus, but I’m way off my game. My mind is teeming, my body strangely energized, and I make a vow right then and there that I need to stop reading so many damn romance novels. I read one or two a day, fully immersed in the escapism it brings me, and I think they’re getting to my fucking head. I’ve always been a hopeless romantic, but it wasn’t until I hit my senior year in high school I discovered romance. I’ve been a complete addict ever since. But this obsession has not served me well, especially since my particular tastes these days are always the kinky variety involving handcuffs and safewords and dominants.

Noah says with a sheepish smile. “You helping out a friend?” I ask him, discreetly hoping and not sure why I would want to know who he was getting the books for. “You could call her that.” Noah says with a shrug. A girlfriend. It's a good thing it's none of my business. “What kind of novels has she been reading in the past?” I ask, allowing my feet to lead me subconsciously to the romance aisle. “Romance.” Noah says and after further thinking, he adds, “with lots of smut scenes.”

My last picnic date with Jason ended up great as you all know. I am currently, sited on the couch, my book held up in my right hand and my hot cocoa coffee in the other. I take a sip of the coffee and kept it on the table. I once said I love reading novels but I will go ahead and say it again. Novels are great but only when it’s not dark romances. I can read any type of novel but not dark romance. Don’t get me wrong but I find dark romance annoying and very boring and sometimes disturbing too. I raised my brows to ask her what was that she wanted to have. “Read me a book. A book to make me fall asleep,” she said. It was just a minor wish but it was really great deal for me. I never read any books. I hated reading them. The morality that were written in the books were just some nonsense to me. I never allowed myself to follow it. Romance novels were what I hated the most. They were just the way too cringe. I mean no boy would really love to read them and even if there were some, I wasn’t the one who would love to read such romance books.

She said. "Come on this is not a marriage proposal, do you think my marriage proposal will be as lame as this? I can be very romantic when I want to be you know." I said and she laughed. "You? Romantic? Okay tell me, how will your marriage proposal be?" She asked. "You'll only get to find out if you accept to date me now so do you?" I asked. "I told you so." She said. "What?" "I told you back then remember? You said you weren't ever going to fall in love, I told you that you will and I'll be here to say I told you so when that happens." She said and I laughed.

“What are these?” “They’re romance novels.” “They’re p**n, Nala. I’ve been alive long enough to know the difference.” She didn’t deny it. Instead, she just stood there with her arms crossed, waiting. I studied her face. In all the centuries I’d known this woman, I’d never once seen her read anything that wasn’t academic. Science journals and historical texts and research papers dry enough to cure insomnia. She had entire shelves dedicated to old human civilizations and herbal remedies and subjects so boring I fell asleep just looking at the spines.
