"Rousseau called me," he said, without looking up from his own glass. "Said you wouldn't let him log something as evidence."
"It wasn't evidence."
"What was it?"
I sat down across from him and didn't answer right away.
"A letter," I said finally.
"From him."

Lucien studied me for a long moment, his silver eyes doing the thing they did when he was deciding whether to push or let something rest.
