I yelped, grabbing my head as the pulsing ache behind my eyes returned. He rushed to my side and pushed me back down onto the bed. "You shouldn't move much, your body has been through a lot," he said. "Who are you?" I rasped. "Xavier Harke. What's your name little wolf?" he asked and I suddenly remembered everything that had happened before I blacked out. "Roxanne," I muttered sheepishly. He grinned. ~Amber’s POV~ ‘Mate.’ Roxanne’s voice filled with that same purr slammed into me with such deafening impact that it completely overwhelmed the understanding of what was happening to me, the knowledge she’d just sent flooding into my head seconds ago. I blinked, trying to push myself up to see the person responsible for the command that had torn through the night. Responsible for the heat rippling through me with a blinding intensity. All I caught was a blur—the biggest wolf I had ever seen with fur to match the darkness—tearing through the rogues in what felt like seconds. Claws. Teeth. Blood.

“Anna! Etta!” She is running through the corridors, trying to find them. Suddenly, she sees a familiar light brown wolf rushing past her followed by an ash colored wolf. They are large in size and the ash colored wolf has a scar on her back. Strong and proud, it emits the aura of a fierce warrior. The brown colored wolf is more elegant and graceful but possesses a quiet dignity. She is carrying someone on her back: Alexei. Before Roseanne can call out, someone grabs her from the back and clasps her mouth with a cloth. A strange smell hits Roseanne which she instantly recognizes as the milk of poppy. Her senses blur and she begins to fall unconscious.

I turned slightly and saw the brown and grey wolves approaching. “Dionne,” Ronan said, nodding to the brown one. “That’s the female. Calm but bloody. Don’t let that serenity fool you.” Then his eyes drifted to the grey wolf. “And Dixon—the silent killer.” He straightened up and turned toward me, taking my hand again. “They’re my pets,” he said simply. Like he was talking about puppies or goldfish, not bloodthirsty, supernatural beasts that nearly made me pee myself.

Takes more than that to stop something this big. Luna throws one of her stones. Not at the wolf. At the ground near its feet. Stone explodes in bright white light. Wolf howls and stumbles backward. I scanned the battlefield and saw a large black wolf being surrounded by about 10 enemy wolves. I could see that he was handling his own pretty well! I then saw a smaller black wolf about to make a sneak attack on the larger black wolf. I was confused at first but quickly realized that the large black wolf was Alpha Braxton and this smaller, scruffier looking wolf must have been another part of Zandicar's plan! I tried to warn Braxton, but before I could, I saw this majestic white wolf soar over everyone's heads and tackle the small black wolf.
