"Cyrus, there's a huge monster outside. It keeps meowing at the windows." She swallowed. "Keira said we had to get Babs. It followed her here." "Don't be scared," Cyrus said. "It's Babs' friend. Let's go see it." He wheeled Barbara into the living room. Outside the window, two massive red eyes glowed in the night. The mutated cat, Buttercup, let out a few rough howls. It did not look hostile. It looked impatient, like it was waiting to be fed. When it saw Barbara, it quieted and sat down in the snow.

I ditch the shirt and socks and slide naked under the covers, sprawling back like a king who’s been temporarily banished from his throne. “Mew.” A puffed-up black furball is glaring at me from the pillow, green eyes full of judgment and betrayal. “Sorry, pal,” I mutter, scooping Doom up and tucking him against my chest. I flip on the TV. Animal Planet. And as if sitting here rock-hard, waiting for a woman to shave her legs, clearly isn’t cruel enough on its own, they show the mating ritual of … cats. Doom sits upright, suddenly very invested, following every word the narrator is saying.

The creature screeched, twisting to try and throw me off. I drove my elbow into the space behind its ear, sending it staggering away dizzily, shaking its head. I hopped off of its back and slid underneath the belly of another beast to grab a thick branch, broken from its tree. I took the branch in both hands and held it in front of me like a shield. The werecat that was about to clamp its jaws onto my side instead found itself with a mouthful of bark, choking on the branch. I used the branch to swing that cat to the side and shifted forms again, just in time for a werecat to pounce on me. We went tumbling over each other, teeth snapping as we wrestled.

What terrified the calico cat most was the fox's grin, its tongue lolling out. "Help!!" The calico cat screamed and turned to run. The fox gave chase, its sharp claws scraping against the debris, sounding like the harbinger of doom. The calico cat glanced back to see the fox pursuing her, Sheffield Castle collapsing in the background.

“I know you. You won’t leave Troi behind.” Alessia shrugged. “I don’t know. It doesn’t feel right.” There was a knock on the door and Ethan and I took defensive stances. Alessia held her hand up to us, telling us to wait. She opened the door a crack and then wider to admit the werecat. “Kat, what are you doing here?” she asked, making her voice pleasant. “I want to know why you won’t let the cat come with you,” she said, her voice fierce. Alessia looked at her for a moment.

He concluded seeing Leon's discreet smile that showed amusement, so he went ahead with light in his lap. "It's not like I want to be here, Leon, I still feel a deadly contempt for you, you invalid." He murmured softly almost imperceptibly. Scooby got the car ready, Leon sat in the back, with Luz, Diana next to Scooby, being the one to drive, his disgusted face could barely disguise it. Secretly Scooby put an extra car in case the Hatawhay tried something, even if he was with Diana in the car, he didn't believe they would get any consideration, so they drove on quietly.

Bento ran off across the yard and I laughed at his efforts to look for the object as if it were the most important thing in the world, coming out all proud with Scooby in his mouth the moment he found it. "So far I don't know what I did wrong, but anyway, I'm not going to get into these ridiculous discussions anymore. I can't afford it (...)" as I waited for Benedict to return from his Scooby-Doo hunt, I heard John's familiar deep voice from afar sounding grumpy.

Wes tells him, and I know it’s a firm no from him. “Please! I want a pet.” Jackson drops his spoon and glares at Wes, crossing his arms. I don’t mean to laugh, but the over-the-top dramatics are a little cute. “Dobby is really nice,” Quinn goes on. “And will be able to leave in a few weeks.” Dean shakes his head, looking at Archer. “I can’t believe you let her keep the others. Eight cats? That’s crazy.” Archer’s eyes fall on Quinn, and the way he looks at her makes me want to turn around and throw up. But mostly because I’d give anything to have someone look at me like that. On its own accord, my head jerks toward Wes.

Figure out how to take down the mountain of a werecat. Grumbles and boos from the crowd are aimed at me because I’m not fighting just dodging. “Pretty princess” the beefy tomcat croons, “I’m going to eat you up and claim you.” He chuckles. “You’re a werecat, not a big bad wolf” I reply in a snarky manner. He doesn’t get it, instead, he just hisses between his teeth. “Submit and this can end now. You are obviously afraid to fight me. You are weak.” I flash pointed teeth at him, my claws coming out.

They looked broken, half-dead in the rain. Good thing I brought them home. That's what saved them. They stored energy, slept for years, kept evolving in this twisted timeline—and produced an even stronger next generation. They hid the glitches. To everyone else, they were just regular house cats. Until the apocalypse hit. Their powers rebooted. Same game. Different round. I'd barely finished processing that when noise flared outside. "Where are those cats? Hand them over!" Alan stood there with a crowd behind him. Three massive crocodiles sprawled at his feet.
