The sound of the metal door swinging open grated my ears, and I grimaced as I pushed past it, running into the deserted alleyway that took up the entire back of Exodus, where a single street lamp glowed dimly.
The first thing my eyes registered was the stacks of water-stained crates and a rust-pitted dumpster that seemed to be leaking some unidentifiable fluid. The second was the smell: Mildew and vomit, with a hint of rotting garbage too that made me want to barf.
