After Ninety-nine Times
Her panic returned as she looked back at me.
“Finn, can we please start over? I swear, this time–”
“I’m sorry, Annie,” I cut her off. “We’re done.”
Her face froze. She opened her mouth, wanting to say something else, but before she could, security had arrived.
“Ma’am, please calm down.”
“Don’t touch me!” Annie struggled against them, her tears smudging her makeup. “Finn! Please! Just give me one more chance!”
Her cries grew distant as she was led away, and the conference room slowly returned to normal.
