The helmet didn't fit right. Or rather, it fit exactly as it had three weeks ago, before the crash, before the hospital, before Cyrus Datu had kissed him on a rooftop and asked him to choose.
Arthie stood in the garage at Sepang, Malaysia, surrounded by the scream of engines and the smell of racing fuel, and felt alien. The Nomex suit was familiar, the gloves broken in to his fingerprints, the car—Bebeng , his girl—tuned to his exact preference. But the man inside the suit had changed.
