The city lights blurred into streaks of neon and gold as the car sped on, each mile bringing us closer to the sanctuary of his penthouse, and whatever shadows Dimitri Petrov might cast upon it.
We arrived past midnight, the penthouse a beacon of subdued light against the darkened cityscape. Stepping out of the car, the crisp night air did little to dispel the lingering tension from the summit, or the gnawing worry about Alexei’s intentions.
