Seeing her now, I knew she would need time to deal with today’s events.
We sat together for a few minutes, letting everything settle, when we felt a force come over us. Our eyes locked in wide fear, and we both tensed, sensing the unknown force swirling around us. Mom gasped, and I looked at her to find her face in a teary-eyed, surprised expression. I felt hugged by the force swirling Verena and me in an instant. It was warm and comforting, like something was embracing me. It was so strange. It squeezed until whatever power surged on us combusted upwards and out. It glistened in the sky as the storm parted, revealing the sun setting behind the clouds.
