The ache in my chest wasn’t just nostalgia—it was longing, wrapped up in regret and guilt. The fourth letter I hesitated over. This one had creases where it had clearly been folded and unfolded countless times. I ran my fingers along the edges, then carefully began to read: “I hope you know, Isabella, that even when we argue, even when I’m stubborn or quiet, my love for you is constant.
