One Night Stand With My Boyfriend’s Twin

One Night Stand With My Boyfriend’s Twin

Beneath the Ice Kieran's POV The dead lay where they fell. The marsh was a graveyard now , a frozen cathedral of broken reeds, half-sunken bodies, and the thin sheet of ice that would hold them until the thaw. Kieran stood at the edge of the treeline, his breath clouding the bitter air, the tip of his sword pressed to the snow. Somewhere in the distance, a wolf howled , or maybe it was just the wind tearing through the bare branches.

Hearts and Ashes

Hearts and Ashes

With a flick of my wrist, I sent the ice spreading across the floor, transforming it into a slick, treacherous surface. The goons, unprepared for this sudden change, stepped onto the ice and immediately lost their balance. One by one, they slipped, their arms flailing comically before they crashed to the ground with heavy thuds. Pete's face twisted in fury. "You think this will stop me?" he roared, stepping forward carefully, trying to find traction on the icy floor. I seized the moment, turning to Thrystan. "Now, go!" I urged, my voice trembling with urgency.

The Alpha King's Captive

The Alpha King's Captive

The fighters start to pound across our ice floor while the sphinxes create fireballs, rapidly launching them in our direction. I am distabilized, one hand on the rushing wave, the other on the mouth of the ice path. One swipe of my arm causes the ice to sever in two. The enforcers topple into the water, screaming. But more rush up like ants, taking their place. I continue to slice off portions of the ice sled until only a block remains that I and Umber stand on.

Young master, your wife is reborn again

Young master, your wife is reborn again

Fu cried and pushed the security guard. The security guard was very straight, stubbornly stopped and shouted, "You really can't go over there! Someone has already fallen in, look at the footprints on the ice!" It had snowed lightly this morning, and on the ice of the lake, there was a thin layer of snow. With black footprints trampled in the snow-white ice and snow, especially clear and obvious, and all the way to the center of the lake to extend - and not far from the side of the baby, open up a big hole in the ice!

I use my arms to block the lashes left and right as they come. -"Use your powers, cadet!" Connor shots while passing back and forth. The wiping becomes more aggressive, leaving a burn behind every time it meets my skin. That's when I noticed the ice chain had now blue-turquoise flames. My opponent might be strong, but he is predictable. His movement comes in a pattern that I memorize and quickly start to dodge. Bothered with the fact his chains are no longer effective on me, he dissipates it to conjure fire spheres he throws in my direction—the moment they hit the ground, the area freezes.

The Way of the Dragon

The Way of the Dragon

They were covered in a deep, dark blue ice, so much so that it almost shone. ‘Are those the ones I’ve seen? The ones I seek?’ Zephyr thought, his eyebrows raised. Although he was not too far away, he could feel an intense pressure from them. As he observed closer, there were about ten of them, each looking human-like. Their height was about seven feet each, and were each incredibly thin. They looked like skeletons.

Enjoying the book tremendously, the characters names and even the tone of the author changed in the last 1/3 of the book was a bit confusing but was able to adjust to the changes the plot is definitely engaging and keeps you pushing to see how it all plays out for Zepher but it seem to abruptly?

Ice Between Rivals

Smooth, unhurried, like he had said something completely ordinary and was now done with it. I stood at the boards and stared at the ice and felt my very carefully constructed position begin, in several places at once, to develop cracks.

The cold in this pristine white chamber wasn't just a rapid drop in temperature. It was an absolute, crushing physical weight. The liquid nitrogen hissed violently from hidden vents in the ceiling, pouring down on us like a thick, frosted waterfall. The freezing mist crawled up the flawless glass walls and settled heavily over our combat boots, turning the floor into a slick sheet of deadly ice.

POV: Avery Blake The lake was frozen solid. Avery tested it herself, the way Grayson had taught her—listening for the groan, the protest, the sound of ice deciding whether to hold. It held. She walked onto it, boots finding purchase, and felt the strange suspension of being supported by something she couldn't see, something that could fail without warning.

Rise of the Forbidden Luna

My fingers were so numb from the sub-zero air that I could barely register the bite of the sharp metal against my skin. With a ragged breath, I slammed the right spike into the face of the ice. A sharp, crystalline crack echoed through the silence, sending a shower of frozen shards cascading down into the black abyss below. I tested my weight, my boots slipping slightly before catching a narrow ledge of stone. The ice held. "One step," I whispered to myself. "Just focus on one step."

Thin Ice is this gritty, atmospheric crime novel that hooked me from the first page. It follows a detective, Markku, who's pulled into a murder case in Helsinki during the dead of winter. The victim? A young woman found frozen in the ice of a public skating rink. The twist? She was a former figure skater with ties to a scandal years prior. The story weaves through the city’s underbelly—corrupt sports officials, shady sponsors, and the brutal cold that feels like its own character. Markku’s personal life’s a mess too, which adds this layer of raw vulnerability to his pursuit of justice. The pacing’s deliberate, like the slow creep of frost, but it builds to a showdown that left me gripping the book like, 'Wait, WHAT?'

What I love is how the author uses the setting. Helsinki isn’t just a backdrop; it’s this oppressive force, all gray skies and slippery sidewalks. There’s a scene where Markku’s chasing a lead through a blizzard, and you can feel the wind cutting through his coat. The dialogue’s sharp too, with this dry Finnish humor that sneaks up on you. It’s not a flashy thriller—more like a slow burn with occasional bursts of violence that hit harder because of the quiet around them. If you’re into Nordic noir with heart, this one’s a must-read.
