They moved quietly, reverently, as though afraid to disturb what lay beneath the mountain.
Sybil joined Damian, cloak wrapped tightly around her shoulders. “She’s holding everything together,” she said.
“She’s becoming everything,” he corrected.
Sybil didn’t argue. “The resonance has changed. It feels… aware. Not hostile, but not dormant either. Like it’s waiting.”
He nodded. “She said she was listening. Maybe this is what she meant.”
They stood in silence for a while, the only sound the wind weaving through the broken stone.
Then Sybil added softly, “There’s something else. The rift markers in the north are glowing again. Weakly, but enough to register.”
