ARWYN POV Sir Sirius Black stood before me, his hopeful green eyes shimmering like dew-laden leaves in the morning sun. I found myself trapped between two impossible choices, each promising to crush me in its own way. Nearby, Thrystan was gently stroking the mane of his horse, his fingers moving with a deliberate calmness, yet his intense gaze was fixed on me, betraying his apparent nonchalance.

It just wasn't the whole truth. She nodded, apparently satisfied, and returned to reviewing our presentation. I looked out the tinted car window. The closer we got, the harder my heart pounded. Seven years. I'd spent seven years convincing myself I was over Ethan Blackwood. Now, in less than ten minutes, I'd know whether that was true. The sleek glass tower came into view. Blackwood Enterprises. It looked exactly as I remembered. Elegant. Powerful. Untouchable. Just like the man who owned it.

I looked down the hallway and through the other side, and there was actually no one in sight. My heart hammered as I approached the large double office doors with D. BLACKWOOD engraved on the metal plate. I forced my trembling hand to knock. No answer. Great. I knocked again. Still nothing. Screw it. I pushed the door open— —and froze in place. Damian Blackwood sat behind his massive black desk. Sharp suit. Cuffed sleeves. Jaw tight enough to crack a diamond. He didn’t look up at me. Not even a glance. I opened my mouth to speak but was cut off by his deep voice.

Having finished his dinner, he retired to his chambers for the night. On that same night, near midnight, Susan could be found sitting in a high back chair that could resemble the throne of a queen. The chair was in a secret room in the castle that had no apparent doors and four windows, one in each cardinal direction. The same room was circular and well decorated in four sections. It contained a big round table in its center and another three high back chairs around it, just like the one that Susan was occupying. Each chair had a Hogwarts House shield at the top of its back that matched the decoration of each section of the room. Red and gold for the Gryffindor's section, yellow and black fo
