Kevin shouted the moment he saw me. I looked up to see that Sirius was suddenly in front of me, and I turned to leave, wondering how I didn't notice how disgusting he really was. Stung by my glare, he promptly stopped me. "Wait! I just came to tell you that I just saw Ebony entering a room upstairs with another female beastfolk!" I paused and turned toward where Ebony was, but he was really gone. Sirius quickly moved closer to me, demanding in righteous indignation, "See? He'd do something like that right under your nose, and you'd still stay with him?"

Edith glanced with the tail of her eye and saw that Jadden, the Beta, was already dripping with sweat. "I can't imagine!" squeaked Jadden. The third case seen by them was only a minor offence committed by a house elf. Edith kept her eyes on it. She saw the house elf with a small body wearing a torn rag. The house elf looked sadly at the presiding officer as he read out the judgement.

My heart skips a beat, and I quickly hide the note under my pillow. Sirius stumbles into the room, disheveled and reeking of whiskey. His shirt is untucked, his hair messed up, and there is a haunted look in his eyes. “Sirius,” I whisper, moving to sit on my knees. “Elise,” he slurs, leaning against the doorframe, barely able to keep himself up.
