APOCALYPSE QUEEN: LEVEL UP OR DIE
I walked toward the far window, my boots silent on the swept wooden floorboards, looking out into the small back yard.
"Is that a meat smoker outside?" I asked softly, turning back to look at the boy.
He was standing by a small cast-iron stove, setting a tin kettle over the flames. He brushed his long, blonde hair back over his shoulder, his dark blue eyes unblinking as he looked up at me.
"Yes," he rasped, his voice steady. "I made it using an old steel barrel and a iron flue pipe I pulled from the main ranger station. It holds smoke cold for thirty hours."
