The Broken Alpha
Without their new mage’s magic, Apollo would’ve been dead.
“Just give up,” he purred, raising a hand and clicking his fingers. Behind him, a monstrous row of creatures lined up. Atticus half wondered if he was dead already when he saw them: some bent backwards, walking on all fours, half human and half bird; some were more wolven in image but grisly and broken, with wolfish muzzles jutting out from their shoulders, their eyes weary and endlessly morose. But still they came, raising their hands – if they could – and preparing to fight.
