Nick’s POV “Ah, I’ll cut to the chase. I am Mr. Jay Lee Adams’ assistant and surely you must already know who he is. Mr. Adams’ driver accidentally saw a boy who had the same face as his daughter. And that boy is Piper Smith’s son. Surely this is a big question mark and a mystery that Mr. Adams must solve. Isn’t it?” I asked. To be honest, Doctor Sara quite impressed me. She was so careful.

He thrust them at me with the urgency of someone completing a task before his nerve ran out. "You didn't eat," he said. I looked at him. Up close he was even younger. Too young for the careful blankness Ironveil seemed to install in everyone eventually. His eyes were brown and honest and slightly panicked, as though he hadn't fully thought through what came after handing a stranger food. "I'm Pip," he said. "I work the stables. I'm nobody. So it doesn't matter if I'm seen talking to you." Something inside me quivered like the memory of warmth. The feeling of recognizing something you had almost forgotten existed.

I pressed the green button and lifted the phone to my ear. “Hey. Are you out of practice already?” “Kas,” Eli’s voice came through the speaker, out of breath, the usual deep calmness of his tone replaced by a rough edge. “I’m not at the rink. I’m actually in my car right now, just pulling onto the main interstate highway. My dad called me twenty minutes ago. Piper collapsed during her lecture at the local college she was attending. They had to take her to the emergency room by ambulance.” All the lighthearted mood from the picnic bench vanished in a split second, my fingers gripping the phone tightly as my heart began to race.

The second interrogation with Stan was frustrating. Piper was pressing forward wanting to kill him. Stan seemed to remember nothing from the previous auctions. I had to leave the room after he screamed, "I don't give a fuck where they go once I get paid! They're just females, they're all the same. I don't remember any of them."

David said. “Enough Dad! I know the reason you came here, but I also know the reason why Hunter always avoids you, you are still the same as before Mom died, and she was also a Beta, and she should have been better than you, please, let me live in peace with my family, and Don't say bad things about my Alpha," Piper said and just left her father to go back to her flower shop. Sadie saw Piper's changed face after returning to the store and looked out the window to see the man driving away in his luxury car.

I went back to the kitchen and I made a coffee and sat at the table with Piper. “What are you thinking?” I asked. “I can’t believe that she’s really gone. It was bad enough when dad left, but she promised me that she wasn’t going to leave us as well.” Piper says. “I think that she just couldn’t handle the pain of losing dad. You can’t blame her for this. Not once you’ve found your mate and you are that committed to them. It’s too hard for anyone to deal with.” I explained.

“What if I don’t want to drink?” Andrius glared at everyone present coldly. “Don’t want to drink?” Fatty Frank scoffed and then looked at the man beside him. “Pip, remind me, what happened to the last guy who didn’t do as he was told?” Pip simply said, “That guy is now a carpet in my house. Furry on one side, naked on the other. My friends thought I got a lousy bear rug.”

She poured coffee into a mug for Piper and brought it to her. “Here Pips.” Vivian dropped the mug on the table in front of her. “Is that you mummy? Oh, I’ve missed you so much.” Piper mumbled. Piper never really had much of a parental influence in her life. Her dad had left even before she was born leaving her mom to raise her all alone. Her mom was still very young and was totally clueless on what to do, but she did hang on and tried her best until she just couldn’t take it anymore. When Piper was six, her mom had resorted to drugs, and she had to learn how to take care of herself. A six year old against the evil of the world with a mom that has lost herself to the world, there was no child

His face contorted in shock, eyes wide with horror. Piper's gaze fell, her shoulders sagging. She crumpled, a sob escaping her lips. "Those monsters... they killed my baby," she whispered, faking a cry. Harrison's expression softened, empathy washing over him. He enveloped Piper in a warm hug, holding her close. "I'm so sorry I wasn't there for you," he whispered, his voice cracking with emotion. "I'm so sorry. I hope our dead baby can forgive me too." Piper's body shook, fake sobs racking her frame. She buried her face in Harrison's chest, hiding her deceit.

Assistant Peter: "Why was Miss Cyra moved suddenly? How am I going to answer Mr. Felix if he asks?" Puspa: "Miss Cyra was transferred to another hospital. It's all under the authority of Mr. and Mrs. Domil to avoid Mr. Felix's outburst. I'm sorry, Assistant Peter, my phone might die after this. But before that happens, I want to tell you my true feelings that I am very sure that it wasn't Miss Cyra who caused Mopi's death. Please investigate it thoroughly. Thank you." After reading the message from Puspa, Assistant Peter immediately tried to contact the girl. However, he was too late. Puspa had already turned off her phone to avoid being tracked.
