Chapter Fourteen: What I Was Never Meant to See Camille’s POV My stomach twisted again. I pressed my hand against it and closed my eyes. The strange feeling had been coming and going since evening. It wasn’t pain exactly. It was more like a strong craving. Spicy food. My mouth suddenly filled with the taste of pepper in my imagination. I let out a small breath. “Maybe the baby wants something spicy…” I murmured softly. The maids had already prepared dinner earlier, but the smell of their food didn’t feel right to me tonight. Everything felt too plain.

Opening it silently, I strained for signs of anyone else in the hotel who might recognize me or who I may know. I looked around and found one I thought was fitting for the occasion: Lady Chatterley's Lover based on the title because I felt I could relate with her but half not trusting myself not to give in to the lust-filled pages and half gleeful with excitement, I chose the book and headed back to my suite. Shutting myself in the bedroom, I curled up on the oversized chair again and got lost in its pages.

His relaxed attitude eased some of my tension. Maybe he was right. Maybe I really should stop letting these things affect me. Soon, the waiter arrived, and we began looking through the menu. Not long afterward, Serena's loud and annoyingly exaggerated laughter floated across the restaurant. I ignored it. Instead, I pointed at several dishes. "The spicy grilled fish here is excellent." Damian nodded. "And the chili garlic prawns are also good, coupled with the spicy vegetable stew." His eyebrow lifted as he stared at me. "You really like spicy food."
