My mom would always read it to me before bed.” Jasmine looked at the book longingly and then turned to Maia. “I’m going to teach you how to read and write.″ She sat up nice and tall and Maia did the same. “First, do you know your ABCs?” Jasmine felt she had to ask. Maia had been kept from everything as a child, so nothing would be out of the ordinary at this point.

The Starveil Caravan is unlike anything I've ever seen. Even battered and diminished by the Dominion attack, it's an impressive sight—six remaining wagons painted in deep indigos and blacks, trimmed with silver filigree that catches the light like captured stars. Each wagon is pulled by creatures I've only heard about in stories: Voidsteppers, massive horse-like beasts with coats that shimmer like oil slicks and eyes that glow faint purple. They're native to the floating shards that orbit the Core Sea, and they're said to be able to walk through shadows when properly trained.

In another dream, Star found herself in a vast, ancient library, its shelves stretching endlessly into the distance. She ran her fingers along the spines of mystical books, each filled with knowledge waiting to be unlocked. As she opened one tome, words flowed from its pages, swirling around her, forming intricate patterns that mirrored the power within her. Night after night, Star's dreams grew more vivid and compelling, drawing her into a world where her powers were limitless.
