The Night Before Prom
“Let me show you another part of New York.”
He flicked on the radio, and a news station filled the car with chatter. Both of them burst into laughter. Stacey quickly switched the station, and a song blared through the speakers. Derick sang along, very loud, throwing one hand in the air while keeping the other on the wheel.
“That’s my song, baby!” he shouted.
“How come I haven’t heard this song?” Stacey asked, laughing.
“You see why you need me in your life,” Derick said, shoulders raised like a champion. Stacey shook her head, laughter spilling out, resting her head against the seat, and stealing glances at him. When their eyes met, they both burst into more laughter.
