I only chuckled while I was grinding the three ingredients before I used a linen cloth to squeeze it into the salmon. "Eat up, little man." I urged him. "Mama..." He looked at me, looking worried. I sighed and smiled again. Should I tell him a fairy tale? "Do you want to hear a story?" He tilted his head. "Story?" I nodded. "What story, Mama?" I clasped my hands together when I put my elbows on the table. "It is about the Luna who found her prince charming and ran away," I started.

His big eyes stared at me with hope and anticipation. I pulled him closer and placed his head on my chest. He wrapped his tiny arm around my stomach. I started running my fingers in his silky hairs. It was a surreal feeling that I couldn’t explain in words. I felt the motherly instinct when I didn’t give birth to a child myself. “Will you tell me a ghost story, Mom?” He poked my cheek. “I don’t know any ghost story but I can tell you the story of a young prince who befriended a lion. It’s not a fairy tale.” I said.

The glint in his eyes dropped, and he wore a stoic expression, staring at me. He huffed in annoyance, a pout etched on his lips. “Aren’t I your little boy anymore?” He whined. I shook my head in amusement, clicking my tongue as I watched his pouty face. How did he manage to switch a serious topic into something else? “Come here, little boy,” I muttered in a soft voice, stressing the last two words. His eyes lit up, springing to his feet. He threw himself into my body, wounding his arms around my neck tightly.

I had already eaten dinner at the pack house so I wasn't complaining. I immediately grabbed the box of Oreos from him. Oreos were my favorite snack when I was little and I hadn't had them since. Xavier chuckled as he watched me scarf four down. "So tell me about yourself," I said after I swallowed my fifth Oreo. "What do you want to know Little One?"
