“We wanted to, but it was never the right time, so…”
“You never found her,” I interrupt, tasting the wine.
“What about Sam?” I ask suddenly.
My father opens his eyes and lowers his gaze to the lasagna I recently ordered. He stabs it with his fork and understands the urgency of the father-daughter bond.
“I’ve always known his father, Eduard. A good man. He raised his two sons the best he could. They both grew up and became attractive businessmen, drawing the attention of every girl out there.”
I almost choke for a moment, but I want to know more, so I fake a smile.
