The world faded around Sofie as she tripped into the night, her body brushing against the decaying warehouse walls. Her breath emerged in jagged inhales, misting the chilly, humid air. Each step she made felt as though she was pulling her soul along, one heartbeat at a time. Her tattered black trench coat flapped around her legs as the wind screamed through the empty alleyways. She could still perceive distant murmurs resonating in her thoughts, "sign the contract... take the mother..." and it unleashed a new wave of terror through her bloodstream.

As the stories got scarier, I noticed a few of the younger pack members huddling closer to their parents, seeking comfort and reassurance. Soon, it was my turn to share a story. Feeling the weight of the moment, I cleared my throat and began my tale. "In a small village, there was a haunted mansion. It was said that the spirit of a vengeful witch roamed the halls, seeking revenge on anyone who dared to enter her domain..." I let my imagination run wild, conjuring spine-chilling scenes and mysterious characters. The pack leaned in closer, their eyes wide with fascination, hanging onto every word I spoke. The suspenseful atmosphere made my heart race with excitement.

But strangely, when the ghosts saw me, they all froze. "On you…" a young man in a worn painter's smock said, staring at me in shock. "Is that Kael's aura?" "And little Lily's," said a ghost who looked like a sculptor. "And Pops's, too." The middle-aged man's face changed. "Impossible! Why would they accept a human?" I walked over to a bookshelf in the corner of the room and found a thick diary. I opened it to the first page and saw the words:

She is a night owl, but now the house is crying from her absence. I retake the form of a human, wincing at the cold air. It's gnawing at my naked skin, but I ignore it and walk up to stand on the porch. The door is hanging open, and the entire atmosphere tells me to turn tails and run as fast as I can. Even my inner wolf is fearful of what may hide in the darkness, yet I press on. Barefoot and wary, I walk over the carpet in the hallway. The light switch doesn't work, and the paintings on the walls seem ominous in the dark. A red substance—blood, is smeared on the walls. My name has been written in big and small letters.

Looked like Loren had gotten carried away, Ria thought. "You know, of all the ghosts, the most dangerous are the ones that carry grudges and regrets…" Loren rambled on again. Ria started to think that Loren liked horror topics like this. "What do you mean?" Ria responded while reading through some of the articles she found earlier. “I have a story that my mother firsthand experienced. She once rented an old house that was haunted by a spirit full of regret and anger that almost brought her to an terrible accident…” Loren had already started preparing her story when Ria noticed that the clock already indicated that their next class was about to start.

Their laughter echoing in my ears makes me scared. “Babe. Wake up,” Echo said. Waking me up from the nightmare I had. I looked at him and hugged him. Good thing that it was just a dream when I heard him whistle. Echo never whistle. I look at him, and I get scared again because it is no longer Echo that I am hugging, but the man in my dreams who wants to kill me is now sitting in front of me. He is still holding the vase. I pushed him and ran away from him. I tried to run outside my room, and he followed me, but he was running this time. He is chasing me, and his whistle is getting louder and louder enough to fill the whole house that scares me and makes me deaf. My heart is trembling now whi

Ken asks while trying to make the conversation a little lighter. "I swear, Ken. Big huge hairy creatures that shift between men....and ugly wolf-men hybrids...They also talked about vampires at the place they held me for four days. We don't live in the world we think we do...I swear on mom. The girl I escaped with...they shot her in the back of the head. To escape from the basement I made the furnace explode...I killed people to get away from them, Kenny. I became a monster to escape monsters. I would never make that up," I declare, and Ken's eyes widen as he digests my words.

Epilogue: Now that I have written several of these stories, I find that my old ghosts have started to haunt my dreams yet again. It is amazing that once things are written down, they begin to take on a life of their own. Just remember, if you don’t want things to go bump in the night, don’t tell anyone else about them.

The deafening silence only intensifies my fear, leaving me with a sinking feeling that something truly horrific has occurred. I took my step after standing paralyzed for so long, one step at a time, slowly. And as my feet move, the scene before my eyes gets much more horrifying. The furniture is overturned, the walls are splattered with blood, and a chilling breeze sends shivers down my spine. My heart races as I realize that I am not alone in this house, and the unknown presence lurking in the shadows only fuels my terror.

Horror struck me like lightning, and I knew then that my worst fears had come true - my old pack and family had been brutally wiped out. “Hallie get back here now.” Hugh ordered me as he and Alpha Arnie chased after me, attempting to calm me down, but it was too late. I was already consumed by a need to uncover the truth. Ignoring their calls, I sprinted onward, disappearing into the maze of corridors within Moonstone Manor. Each corner I turned revealed more and more lifeless bodies, my heart breaking with every sight. The hallways felt suffocating, as though every step I took was leading me deeper into a twisted nightmare.
