the line went off and I heaved out a loud sigh. How good could the heavens be to me? I'd lost a horrible job and not long after gotten a call for the job of my dreams. Working as a maid for the big Daniel Snider would be the best thing that can happen to me. From what I saw when I'd applied, Mr Snider was a CEO of an upcoming company who needed someone to take care of his house whenever he was out to work. The requirements for the job weren't that much so I'd applied immediately—what I hadn't expected was to get a call.

However, some of them are more flexible and can be temporarily deployed if there is any need.” Vera asked again, “Where are these maids from?” Madam Marilyn said, “They are all from Malaysia and were carefully selected from among the maids at home when I came here.”

They stood in a perfect row, hands folded in front of them, eyes down. None of them dared to look at me. It was as if I were something sacred or cursed. “Our lady’s room has been arranged,” said one of them. She was older than the rest, with sharp eyes, her hair neatly pinned back. From the way she spoke, I knew she was the chief maid

They looked at the door and saw a group of men and women, dressed in vivid colors, sauntered in. The leader was a middle-aged woman dressed meticulously. Her eyes were sharp and her facial features were pronounced. “Are you from the Hacks family?” Syed asked as he went up to the group of people. The woman did not look at him. She lifted her chin and said proudly, “I am Madam Hacks’ chief maid, Mary Sue Roberts. I am here on the madam’s order to teach her future daughter-in-law some manners! “Are you Daphne Lyfe?”

One of the maids from the main house overheard her and suddenly stepped forward, slapping the nurse hard across the face. “Who do you think you are, talking like that?” the maid snarled. “We only listen to Madam. That homewrecker in the wheelchair doesn’t deserve anything! She’s just a cheap slut trying to steal Mr. Hale from Madam. She should be grateful we even let her stay here instead of throwing her back to the streets where she belongs!”
