The psychological weight of it was immediate and crushing. May had faced down armed robbers, corrupt officials, and dangerous syndicates. She was used to physical danger; she could fight back against that. But this... this was psychological warfare. Dead lilies symbolized death, endings, and farewell. It was a threat, yes, but more than that, it was an attempt to destabilize her mind. It was saying, I know where you are. I know what you do. I can reach you whenever I want.
