Chris picked up the undamaged box and held it up. “This is to prevent the unit from breaking. There is a gas tank on the front and backing the unit. The rear tank has a hose that attaches to the primary air supply. This serves as a second air supply. The front tank will slowly leak gas into the sheathes to prevent the outside air from corroding the blades. Now for these three blades you will have a single hilt at your disposal.” Chris passed around the sword hilts and a blade. “Take note of the lever on the side of the handle. Squeeze the lever and slide the handle into the blade.”

Looking at the contraption I realize there is no mechanism to stop the blade once is starts. Realizing I have no other choice, I put my hands forward and grab hold of the heavy blade stopping it in mid swipe. I can feel the sharp blade slicing through the flesh on my hands, but I have to do it to save Elizabeth’s life. I pull, with all my strength on the blade. Pulling it away from Elizabeth, enough so she can move her head out of the way of the way.

As my eyes adjust to the area she’s indicating, I spy a bunch of weird-looking instruments on a table that is close to the bed. I do a double take and move a little closer, to be sure that what I’m seeing is not a figment of my imagination. Right there on the table are saws, knives, and every other weird instrument that you can think of, which should have no business being anywhere other than in a butcher or carpenter’s shop.
