The Shaws were already struggling, relying heavily on Caleb's promise to keep them afloat. Charlotte could not resist stealing another glance at the man standing upstairs. After sending Suzy to her mother-in-law, Charlotte decides to look around the house. Despite the abuse, she loved this house. Her favorite place is the attic, so she decides to take a look inside.

The door opened moments later, revealing Charlotte dressed in a sleek black robe, her expression shifting from surprise to annoyance. “Well, this is unexpected,” Charlotte said, leaning against the doorframe. “Can I come in?” Emma asked, her tone sharp. Charlotte raised an eyebrow but stepped aside. “By all means.” Emma entered, her eyes scanning the luxurious apartment. It was every bit as ostentatious as she had imagined. “To what do I owe the pleasure?” Charlotte asked, closing the door behind her. Emma turned to face her. “You need to stop.” Charlotte laughed, a hollow sound. “Stop what?”

She thought about how Valentina wished for their mother to die. Charlotte wasn't a saint. She was spoiled and she was selfish. But she loved her brother. And for the first time, she saw that Valentina was destroying him. "I have to know the truth," Charlotte said. She tucked the drawing and the sock into her pocket. "I have to know if they are really gone." Charlotte walked into the kitchen. Sarah and Mary were busy preparing the afternoon tea. When they saw the "Little Princess" walk in, they stopped talking and bowed their heads.

Charlotte offered him a faint smile and said, “If you want to sleep, you can go to sleep first. I’m going to wait here.” The custodian could not help but sigh inwardly. Charlotte stood in front of the door for the whole night. It was long past dawn. She refused to go away even after the servants came to call her for breakfast. She just kept staring toward the end of the road that led to their house’s gate. After a long while that seemed like an eternity, a luxurious Ferrari appeared on the road and was heading to their house at top speed. It was only then Charlotte’s highly-strung nerves finally relaxed.

Spending the day with Charlotte, Jax, Oliver, and the kids made me more acquainted with them.
