"I'll sit in the chair."
He pulled a heavy velvet armchair to the bedside. He sat down, his hand still clasped in Leo’s.
"Tell me a story?" Leo asked, his eyes heavy but fighting sleep. "Uncle Ryan tells me about spaceships."
Kael hesitated. He didn't know about spaceships. He knew about winter. He knew about war.
"Once," Kael began, his voice a low baritone rumble, "there was a wolf who lived on the highest mountain. He was strong. He was a King."
