"Hmm, they said, she had gone to the pack’s sworn enemy. What was that his name?” she began to squint and tap her head. I dropped my bag suddenly, and my phone fell.

DAPHINE POV The Alpha nodded, her gaze filled with wisdom and understanding. "Now go," she said, with a smile. "Your friends are waiting for you." I turned, knowing that it was time to leave. I took a deep breath, and then began to walk away. I felt a sense of peace as I moved through the trees, the moonlight filtering through the branches. I knew that my life would never be the same, but I also knew that I was ready for whatever came next. I was ready to face my future, whatever it might hold.

“But, Alpha… She—she made us run.” The Alpha’s lips curved into a cold, humorless smile. “She’s not our problem,” she said, her tone like steel. “She’s one of us.” The rogues froze. The air seemed to grow heavier. “What?” one of them whispered. “How can that be?” another asked. The Alpha turned away from them, her eyes on the forest beyond the clearing. The wind blew through her hair, carrying her scent—wild, bitter, and full of pain. “Because,” she said quietly, “we were the only two survivors.”

She leaned in, her eyes locked onto mine, and said, "Spill it. I'm here." I hesitated for a moment, the words stuck in my throat, but then they came pouring out. "The Alpha has broken promises, the ones he made to people, the ones he made in the past, and now, one of which is happening because of Lady Melissa." Her expression shifted, a glimmer of understanding flashing across her face. "The Alpha was meant to be mine," I continued, my voice cracking with emotions. "I did everything for him, not for him to leave me for her. Just like he turned his back on you the last time."

He’s a remnant, about to meet death. “I do…not know.” He whimpers, his voice laced with pain. “He left us. He left all of us behind and left. He…” “He took something from me.” The Alpha says. His golden eyes, even though they aren’t pointed in my direction, glow with a murderous, tormented brilliance. Somehow, he looks the most agonized out of all. “Two Omegas. Where are they?” Another cry splits the air, outside. It’s the sound of a sobbing wife, laid over the corpse of her husband.

Cassa asked. “I don’t have any details about her or what she looks like. Just that she’s a beta,” I replied. “He might’ve confused her with you.” “Surely,” she nodded. “But he’s not a rogue, right? Can an Alpha even be a rogue with his pack?” She raised her camera in my direction. “It’s not unheard of, but that’s not our problem to sort out. We can’t let a rogue exist,” I said. “What are you up to?”

“But she—she told me yesterday that she wanted to get her life together. She said she was going to find work and stand on her own two feet. Why would she—?” She breaks off with a choked sob, covering her mouth. Alpha Frank, however, doesn’t blink. “Exactly why I told you not to trust her return,” he mutters darkly. “You think a few tears can earn her a clean slate? That girl left this pack, abandoned her family, and now comes crawling back like a stray only to run off again? She’s not reliable.” “Frank,” his wife hisses, eyes wide with hurt and anger. “No,” he snaps. “Let the Alpha know what kind of person he’s chasing after. Maybe then he’ll stop wasting his time.”

Her fur is like snow white, while her tail, ears, and paws are black. Allen huffed and started to run as well. She saw Ohm far ahead of her, and he turned left. When Allen got to the point where Ohm had turned, she couldn't see the Alpha anywhere. She stopped running, closed her eyes, and sniffed the air. When she finally caught the scent of Ohm, she broke out into a full run once again. Ten minutes later, Ohm was still nowhere to be seen. Allen looked around and realized she was lost. She stopped running once more, and when she sniffed the air, she couldn't smell Ohm's scent anymore because there was a new one, and it was strong. It was Alpha, and boy, did it smell really amazing, like home

She cried endlessly in my arms as she let every guard down. As for the shapeshifter, it was my fault that she came to hurt my mate. I was so careless. I never tried to question her background but took it to my pants. Putting my pack in danger. How useless can I get? I don't understand what my father saw in me naming me the Alpha. Nelson could've been a better option.

Fresh silverleaf hung outside the witch's apothecary, and several young wolves waved at me from a distance, calling me back for hot soup. Behind me, the Alpha who had once taken up my whole world was left in the snow with everything old and broken. Nova rested against my heart, warm and breathing. This was my new life, and I no longer had to wait for anyone to turn back.
