Alpha's Regret After I Left
The rich, dark squares sat between us like a peace offering.
He reached for one of the brownies first, his long fingers moving through the air. For the briefest second, his skin brushed against mine. It was just a light, casual touch, but it sent a tiny, electric jolt up my arm. The rich scent of cocoa and sugar filled the small space between us, so thick and sweet it almost felt like I could taste it on my tongue. I tore off a small piece of my own brownie. It was still a little warm from the oven, and the melted chocolate inside was gooey, sticking slightly to my fingertips.
