Reborn to Defy Fate
Killian’s eyes darted to it, then back to my face, his brows furrowing further.
“That could be anything,” he muttered. “A trick of light… maybe.”
I gave a faint laugh under my breath. “You always did need everything spelled out.” I let the spark fade, then pressed my hand flat against the ground.
The soil warmed under my touch, then stirred. Tiny green shoots unfurled, coiling upward through the cracks in the earth until a fragile wildflower pushed its way into the moonlight. Its petals opened; white, trembling, alive.
Killian’s breath caught, but still his jaw tightened.
