His wary gaze followed my every move, though he tried to appear casual about it.
I picked up a bouquet of white lilies, their petals smooth and perfect, but they didn’t feel quite right. Too formal, too distant. After a few more minutes, my eyes landed on a bundle of wildflowers—vivid purples, yellows, and soft blues blending together in perfect chaos.
I smiled to myself and turned to Jake.
“What do you think?”
