OUTCAST: FIRST BLOOD

OUTCAST: FIRST BLOOD

“You are chosen. Those two truths override everything else.” The First Shadow shifted. Its towering form lowered—its spine bending in a slow, unnatural arc—until its massive, hollow head leveled with Emily’s height. Golden-red reflections danced across its bone-dark skin, cast from the lingering glow still radiating off Adrian’s chest. Emily backed up reflexively, only to press against Adrian’s torso. Adrian stepped immediately in front of her, claws half-drawn, shoulders tense enough to snap. “Back. Away from her,” he growled.

In Her Shadow

In Her Shadow

Now, both of us are without fingerprints! The lecturer's brow creased as he looked from me to Jennifer and back again. My parents reached out, pleading with the tutor, saying, "As parents, how could we not recognize our own child? "The one sitting over there is an imposter. That's Jennifer. The real Ella is right here with us." The lecturer's expression shifted subtly. My classmates started nodding. "If even her parents say so, then the girl who's in class with us has to be the fake."

IN THE SHADOW OF DESIRE

IN THE SHADOW OF DESIRE

“So I’m your shadow now?” Damian stepped closer, eyes sharp. “You’re under my protection. There’s a difference.” The room seemed to shrink, his presence pressing in, heavy and undeniable. For one terrifying, intoxicating moment, Amara wondered if the danger wasn’t outside at all - but standing right in front of her. The man cleared his throat. “There’s more.” He tapped the folder again and slid another photograph across the table. Amara’s blood ran cold. It wasn’t her. It wasn’t Damian.

Matteo replied, "Of course not. Business meetings aren't as important as my precious girl." The Shadowridge Pack was one of the top packs in the region, and it took us great effort to convince them to give us this opportunity. The negotiation was crucial for our pack's future development as it could make or break us. I reminded him again, "Alpha Noah only gave us two hours for this meeting. If we..." Sabrina glanced at me with annoyance. "Does a lowly Beta like you need to tell the Alpha how to do his job? Who do you think you are?"

After Divorce, I Married My Husband’s Billionaire Uncle

After Divorce, I Married My Husband’s Billionaire Uncle

Because she wasn’t looking at him. She was looking at the shadow. And for the first time— There was no confusion in her eyes. No fear. Only recognition. “You left me there.” Her voice came out… different. Layered. Echoing. Not just hers. The shadow didn’t deny it. “Because you weren’t ready.” A long pause. Heavy. “And now?” Emily asked quietly. The shadow stepped closer. Close enough that the darkness brushed against her skin. Cold. Familiar. “Now…” A whisper.

Crown of The Omega

Crown of The Omega

"I am sorry we did not find you. Sorry you grew up alone. Sorry you had to become strong by yourself. But I am not sorry you survived. I am not sorry you are here. I am not sorry you are exactly who you are." Something shifted in her expression. The shadows in her eyes flickered. "Aunt Lyra?" "I am here. We are all here. And we are not leaving you again." The Shadow Emperor roared in fury. "Enough sentimentality! If you will not serve me willingly, then you will serve me as corpses!" He unleashed his full power, not at us directly but at the foundations of his own realm. If he could not have victory, he would ensure mutual destruction. The shadow realm began to collapse in earnest. Not crack

Crowned In Shadow

Crowned In Shadow

“I know.” “You can tell me to stop.” Jamie looked at him. Really looked. The scar. The control. The restraint that felt like it was holding something dangerous in check. “I don’t want you to stop,” Jamie said, then winced. “I mean….” Adrian didn’t smile. He didn’t gloat. He just nodded, like that answer fit into something he’d already decided. “Good,” he said. Behind them, unseen but aware, La Corona Nera watched. And after midnight, Bar Della Luna closed its doors, keeping its secrets, for now.

SHADOWS OF THE COVENANT

SHADOWS OF THE COVENANT

But something in his expression shifted from resistance to something that was at least beginning to resemble the thing before a question. Aldric counted that. At this stage, everything counted. The meeting ended without resolution and with something better than resolution: a question open where there had been a wall. The noble left still uncertain but carrying a different uncertainty than the one he'd arrived with. Aldric had seen this before — in himself, months ago, standing in a vampire kingdom expecting monsters and finding families. The shift didn't happen all at once. It happened in the gap between what you were told and what you actually saw, and it required time and proximity and som

In the Shadow of the CEO

In the Shadow of the CEO

"I'll be out in a moment, Jia." "Yes, sir," she said automatically, but she turned to look over her shoulder when she heard his voice filtering from a distance. Where had he gone? He had been behind her just a second ago. She craned her neck, however, and saw that he had disappeared into his bedroom. The door remained open, and there was a soft light glowing inside that cast Atlas's moving shadow out into the hallway. Her eyes widened when she eventually recognized the particular movements of the shadow: shifting arms, and then a shirt being peeled off. She ripped her gaze away before she could invade Atlas's privacy any further, horrified that she had just caught herself ogling her boss's s

I enjoyed this book immensely. I did initially have my doubts about how many chapters were taken up by Jia's first day but I liked the progress. It was beautifully written. Jia's journey from struggling 'single parent' with low self esteem to a woman loved and in love was really well thought out.

Loved this story of 2 people who showed real growth, evolving in a v. positive way bc of their emotional connection, determination to persevere under v. trying circumstanc. Yr treatment of anxiety & depression, particularly involving women was handled beautifully & with great clarity & sensitivity.
