Cassandra leaned into Caden, and when her eyes met Victoria's, a flash of triumph and provocation lit within them. Victoria's nails dug into her palms instinctively, then quickly relaxed. She had business here tonight. There was no need to waste her energy on them. Caden's gaze seemed to linger for a fraction of a second on her unnaturally pale face before shifting away indifferently. She had just taken her seat when the lights dimmed. The host took the stage and announced excitedly that before the auction began, there would be a three-minute "kiss for charity" segment for all the couples present to enjoy.

I lift my gaze to the sky and let my power stretch, tasting the distant panic of cities realizing their wards are gone, their gods silent, their prayers unanswered. “No more anchors,” I whisper. “No more bonds.” Only endings. The game is almost over. And this time— Everyone dies.

With the little sounds I could hear, there was a battle of bullet exchange not too far from us. I couldn’t stand for long on my two feet and Hunter noticed as he gripped me against his chest and began yelling. “ HELP! SHIT… HELP!!!” Slowly I was losing consciousness as I fought to stay awake. The voices intensified as a beam of light lit up Jeremy on a higher stage. The rhythm he played started soft and slow but little by little the drums intensified. When the symbols crashed, a platform rose onto the stage with Kyung Jiho on it. Hae Mina grinned when she saw the white slivers light up under the black lights. On the back of Kyung Jiho's shirt was his name and on the arm was the Nightide emblem. The drum's symbols crashed and the next instrument joined. One by one, Nightide appeared on the stage with their parts. Hae Mina knew this was not her song to come in on because she had never been given a part.

I have only 3 days left before miss Lauretta throws me out. I went to collect the bill for his meal,his girlfriend is a talkative. She talks like a parrot,I made to collect it as soon as my hands touched his,I felt a tingling sensation, I quickly took the money and left. He stood up and left. I am seriously regretting this game I started. There is nothing I can do tonight, so I slowly rise from the hard floor and dust myself off. I eat a light dinner and make a cup of hot tea. Next, I head upstairs to take a long bath. I begin filling the clawtooth tub with warm water and add in some of my favorite rose bath oils before lighting candles around the room. This is my sanctuary and exactly what I need right now. I lean my head back and breathe in the rose and amber from the candles as Frank Sinatra’s smooth melodic voice fills the room.
