Three knocks. Hard. Urgent. Prince Liam’s eyes narrowed as he turned. “That’s the royal signal,” he muttered. “It means someone important is requesting entry.” My blood froze. “Who?” I whispered barely audibly. He didn’t answer. Because the doors opened now and the King stepped inside. King Draeven. Tall, cold, and covered in authority like armor. His eyes scanned the room and then they landed on me after which everything in my body went still. “Ava Varyn,” he said. His voice was like iron wrapped in velvet, deceptively soft. “We need to talk.”

It was supposed to fill one with happiness, excitement, and when he’d felt the mating pull the first time, he’d been filled with it. He almost couldn’t believe that fate had paired him with such a delectable female, one that looked so much like an angel, until he’d stepped closer, his vision had cleared and he’d seen that it was Maria. Of all fucking people. He was the vampire king. How was he going to tell his people that he was mated to the person who had killed their beloved king and queen and had captured the lovely Iris? He couldn’t. He couldn’t tell them. It would never work.

“Very well, my dear. Do without. I’m sure a nubile young nude like you will raise many a staff.” “You must concede,” Isabel urged. “A horrible garment is better than nothing.” “Horrible, you say? Someone else appears to be itching for punishment. Are you girls so bored that it makes you bold enough to defy your queen? Am I not a generous monarch?” “We’re a bit confused, Your Majesty. Is Ephron not the King?” “Not until I say so, girl.” They all felt they had gotten off lightly when Clara flounced her way out of the fire-damaged solar, clearly annoyed by Ava’s barbed query.

What was that about? I took a deep breath and began gathering my thoughts. "Then, ask me anything you want, Your Majesty." The king's expression softened, and he leaned forward slightly, making the conversation feel more personal. "I have been thinking ever since last night. Your blue eyes, your pale skin, and golden locks... All of those features seemed too uncommon for the people in my kingdom. You can barely see anyone even with lighter hair. And almost everyone's eye colors are dark. But yours... Perhaps... Do you hail from another kingdom? Are you a spy planted here to give away my kingdom's weakness?" King Lucian smirked knowingly, hoping to get the response he wanted from me.

he continued. "So he's related to their king or something," I asked. I wasn't too surprised as Andre always teased that he had some power. "He's definitely related," Hanson spoke "He's the Prince of the vampires, set to become king once he chooses a mate." I frowned, that did surprise me. Andre had failed to mention that fact, which was important since he always tried to convince me to pick him as a mate.

I asked Elder Morgana. Damon interrupted her as she was about to speak. “Listen, everyone. I don't care who you are or what you are. I am the only one with the title of a king here. I am not just the alpha of a pack alone. I am the alpha king, and I demand total respect from all of you. It's one kingdom and I lead everyone!”

Stop imaging things Valerie , have the king ever been rude to you before " " That's none of my business and I don't care ,I just hate him " " Well I love him " " What bethel how can you love a man who care less about his people " " I love him ,I don't care if he marries me as his second , third or fourth wife I Just want to be close to him ,Girl have you seen him ,his so handsome ,Infact his every woman's dream I seriously can wait to be his wife " " Stop dreaming bethel the king will never look at your direction so stop fantasizing on things that will never happen "
