How much more did Balric keep from me? *Now isn’t the time, Desi.* *Yeah, well if I live through this you and I are going to have a talk.* Not that I actually expected to live. I guess I would just have to be satisfied that Ian would never have the book again. Focusing back on him, I offered Ian a predatory smile. “Good. I really wanted to kill you first anyway.” I pulled the throwing knife out of the sheath in my wrist cuff and threw it at him, distracting him while I pulled out a boot knife and my combat knife.

Such a good story! The story flows well. Doesn’t go on too long describing a vibe or paragraphs of how one foliage growing on a home looks like (looking at you, Anne Rice). Seriously, though, “Jilguera” is a wonderful storyteller. Read this story. It’s so good.

Creative show not tell like of story. Unique and dosent have “breaks” or emotional slow parts. Love the diversity and embracing unconventional circumstances. Also it’s not to long or drawn out, it’s just the right length. A delightful afternoon read 10/10 thank you!

Revenge With Step-Daddy

Revenge With Step-Daddy

Watch them curl black, edges glowing orange before they disappear. “You were never supposed to matter,” I whisper to the fire. “You were just supposed to be the knife I stuck in her back.” The last page flutters in, my handwriting smudged with tears. I watch it burn until there’s nothing left but ash.

The Girl He Never Knew

The Girl He Never Knew

I wanted him. Even when he was being possessive and reckless and impossible. Even when he pushed me away and pulled me close in the same breath. I didn't say any of that. I just let him pull me past the tables, past the curious eyes, around the corner into a narrow alcove between two tall bookshelves, away from the main aisle, and from prying eyes.bThe murmur of the library faded behind the wall of books, muffling into a low hum. He didn't let go of my wrist. His grip was warm and strong like he thought if he let go, I might disappear. He backed me gently against the shelves, one hand braced beside my head against the spines of old books, the other still circling my wrist like he hadn't deci

What They Never Told Me

What They Never Told Me

Evil people always seem to live forever. Gianna didn't even flinch. She strode up to Madelyn and slapped her, the sound echoing through the room. "Your daughter went missing, so now you're here to slander us? My daughter is my flesh and blood—I carried her for nine months and gave birth to her! Why should I let you look at her photo just because you say so? I'll tell you right now—" Before Gianna could finish, Madelyn grabbed her wrist and shoved her to the ground like she weighed nothing.

NEVER YOURS TO LOSE

NEVER YOURS TO LOSE

The muscle in his jaw moved once. "Fine," he said. "But you wear an earpiece. I'm outside and I hear everything in real time." He paused. "Non-negotiable." She held his gaze. He didn't flinch. "Fine," she said. He turned back to the front. She looked out the window and the city blurred past and she thought about her mother — about Neva in her coat, always ready to leave, always carrying more than she showed. She thought about the drawing room of the family home and the way her mother had said I should have pushed harder with the specific weight of a woman who had been punishing herself for years.

The Billionaire That Couldn’t Let Her Go

The Billionaire That Couldn’t Let Her Go

I had made a promise never to touch a cigarette again and I was not about to break it. The wind tugged at my jacket. Below the cliff the water moved in slow, dark patterns. I kept turning the lighter over in my fingers while the conversation in the hospital replayed itself. Her voice when she asked me to leave the room. The way she held herself together even while the distance between us kept growing. She wanted out. I had told her she could not leave. And I still had not given her a reason that sounded like anything other than control.

The One He Let Go

The One He Let Go

Because maybe, just maybe, this was the moment things will finally change. The past can’t be undone. The pain can’t be erased. But It was time to let go. And as I held Kelly, her sobs echoing through the empty room, I knew she was finally starting to let go, too.

I'm Letting Go of Us

I'm Letting Go of Us

That pulled him away, and he eventually started dating Helga. Now, he wondered if he had misunderstood me all these years. His fingers tightened around the letter, and he cried. I had already started work. After saying goodbye to my mother, I deleted all my contact info. Unbeknownst to me, Shawn kept the box of stuff around. He bawled his eyes out and kicked Helga out of the house. Even though she cried as hard as she could, he wouldn't even spare her a look. How ironic. When he told the guards to take me out right after that final confession, he probably did not see this coming. Me neither.

NEVER LET YOU GO, MY MISTRESS

NEVER LET YOU GO, MY MISTRESS

Raisa tries to be strong for Sherina's sake. "It's eleven o'clock at night," Raisa said, looking at watch on her wrist. Raisa's eyes stared at the nightstand beside the bed, especially in the drawer. Without hesitation her hand pulled the small drawer out of curiosity about what was inside. Raisa's eyes were big and her cheeks were flushed red like fresh tomatoes. A small box containing a rubber sheath used during fantasy adventures with Adrian filled the little drawer. The young woman quickly closed the drawer again. Even the nightstand lamp on the table was also turned off by Raisa because of her surprise.
