It is hard enough to imagine someone living here with her when I’m not home. I change into jeans and a blue button-up shirt, aiming for business casual. I never wear shoes in the house or on the deck when it’s nice out, so if I hire her, she’ll be free to be casual. I dress Lola in a cotton dress and some sandals, brushing her soft hair out before setting her free in the living room. “Here goes nothing.” I glance around the spacious living room and the corner that is so far still tidy, but Lola heads over to dig through her toys. I hear the doorbell and Lola looks at me with wide eyes.

“I’m only doing this because you threatened to cry if I didn’t.” “I still might. Don’t tempt me.” I grab her hand and pull her inside. The house is packed. Teens are already dancing, laughing, flinging themselves across the room like they own it. There’s a tower of soda bottles on the kitchen counter, streamers dangling from the ceiling, and someone’s already raided the snack table. “Upstairs,” I whisper in her ear. “Let’s get ready.” We race up to my room and I toss her the mesh-sleeved dress I found for her last weekend. It’s deep purple, almost black under the light, with silver threads that shimmer faintly. She hesitates.

As the day continued on and the girls spent most of the day watching television seven o'clock rolled around and they headed to their shared room to get ready. "Oh, stop who in the world am I supposed to impress or look good for?" Cherokee laughed as she pushed Lucky and turned around to get the dress from the small closet they both shared. Maybe I can get Chad out here to do it. I head into my closet to find something nice to wear. I picked out a pretty pink dress. I usually would wear pants but it’s just so hard with this boot. It’s so much easier to put a dress on and I threw on a black tennis shoe to match my black boot. I really want this thing off. Maybe, if I’m lucky, it’ll be off by Christmas. I pick up my phone and text Chad. “Hey, are you doing anything tonight? I was wondering if you and Joe want to come out to my house and decorate for me? I literally have no desire.”

Everyone is in the living room talking when I come downstairs, including my mother. She is wearing an extremely tight purple dress that hits mid thigh and shows way to much cleavage. Her heels look like something that belong on a street corner and her makeup looks like a clown assisted her. I don't know how the hell she ever got a man when she thinks looking like a clown's hooker is sexy. To each their own I guess. The guys including Curtis are all wearing nice jeans and button up shirts. They look nice. My guys look so much like triplets, especially when they dress alike it's kind of funny.
