The fight doesn’t last long.
It never does when discipline meets desperation.
One by one, the attackers fall… until the clearing grows quiet again.
A few remain…five, maybe six. They slowly backed away, their ears low, bodies trembling. Then one steps forward.
He slowly shifts back into human form, and I follow suit.
Marcus, who must have shifted back earlier, tosses me a robe.
“Enough,” my voice, cold, rang out.
The man raises his hands slightly, though his posture is anything but submissive. “We didn’t come to fight.”
