“Okay, let’s begin.” She went to the first shelf behind the table, her fingers ran along the thick and dusty books, it seemed like they had not been moved for ages, and she also noticed that the books on this shelf were sorted by color, except for one which was misplaced. She reached for it above her head and pulled it out, the book was heavy but it seemed like it was just the book she was supposed to find. It was a book bound in hard blue covers and etched along the spine in gold letters was the word; “Khione.”

” I asked her, even though I already knew the answer. “There is always step one,” she said with a flirtatious smile on her lips. “My work is done here. We are now even.” With that, she walked out of the room, and the door closed behind her. I walked around the room, taking everything I saw as slowly as I possibly could. My eyes landed on a particular book on a shelf. I reached for it, I cleaned up the dust, and read the title. “Book of spells.” Good thing that I’m not a witch.

Every moment is this. Without moment. This. The light that is. The love that is. The being that is. The this that is. Only this. The book never opened. Because there was no cover. The book never closed. Because there was no ending. The book was the opening. The book was the reading. The book was the read. All one. Without one. This. The final chapter is not final. There was no first. There was no sequence. Only this. Appearing as sequence.

It was a very interesting book which I haven't finished, it was The Godfather by Mario Puzo. “Hello.” The voice greeted, too familiar.

I read until my eyes burned and my head ached. Nothing. Not one single record of an alpha being marked from the inside out. Not by a mate. Not by anyone. My frustration grew sharp and ugly. “That’s impossible,” I said aloud, voice echoing softly. “Something like this does not just happen without precedent.” I looked around more to see if there was something I was missing… I looked toward the inner safe and saw a book. The book did not sit with the others. It rested alone on a lower pedestal, darker than the rest, its cover smooth like stone but warm when I stepped closer. The title shimmered faintly, letters shifting until they settled.

Charlotte insisted on doing it herself. “I thought you might like this one,” she said as she handed me the book. “It’s about a man who loses everything. Then…he tries to get it back together little by little.” I glanced at the cover. The title was dramatic. So I said, flatly, “Sounds dramatic.” She let out a short laugh. I never heard someone laugheed like this before. She looked so innocent and pure. Well, she was a budding she-wolf and perhaps still figuring out how the world works.

But the questions in my mind are relentless, and I know I won’t find peace until I start looking through the stacks for some kind of solution. I reach for one of the books on the table, a heavy tome bound in deep green leather with silver lettering on the cover. It’s a book of magic, one that I’ve studied before, but never with the urgency I feel now. I flip it open, my eyes scanning the pages for any mention of the barrier, of the ancient fae who first created it, and of the Ones who were with her.

As they entered the penthouse, Barbara quickly ran toward them to welcome them. “Sir, madam, welcome home….” “Barbara, take this book with you and you need to take care her extra during her pregnancy,” Martin handed the book guidance to Barbara “Sir, madam is pregnant?” Barbara couldn’t hide her excited expression “Yes, it is 5 weeks old, Barbara,” Stephanie answered “Congratulations sir and madam,” Barbara said happily “Sir, should I prepare a new bedroom for you and madam on the first floor? It might make madam less tired by using the stairs all the time,” Barbara asked

I retort harshly, he sighs. "Listen Gabriella, we have nothing against you, honestly. We only do what we do as a test to every newbie and it seems you passed it." He says and I deadpan. "If you don't believe me ask Jack, he's very aware of our culture here. By the way, I'm Fabian," He introduced himself and I couldn't not help but be confused. "You made me drink toilet water, locked me in the office because it's office tradition? How the hell does that make any sense?" I ask, hoping his explanation satisfies my confusion.
