A NERD FOR THE HOCKEY ALPHA
She’s looking right at me, eyes steady, even as her chest rises and falls fast.
“Because I missed you,” I say, no hesitation, no shame. “I missed you, Calla. Every damn second. Don’t tell me you didn’t miss me too.”
Her lips part, but she doesn’t answer right away. Then, softly, almost like it hurts to say it, she whispers, “I’m not going to be someone else’s woman. I’m not going to think someone else’s man.”
The words hit like a punch to the ribs. My body freezes, every nerve burning.
