They had finished doing my hair and my makeup when a soft knock came at the door. "Come in," I answered, and it was Damian. The Prince walked in, his eyes never leaving me. The maid bowed down in respect as they vacated the room giving us some privacy. "You're ready." He managed to say. He was so lost in drooling at my beauty that he didn't even realize that I had been watching him the whole time. "You look beautiful." He said and I gave a slight bow. "Come on, Thea. After staring at the bright sky for a short while, he turned to her again. “I’m not pleased with what’s happening,” his tone became serious and his smile had faded completely. Saïda stared silently at him, swallowing a little. “I’m not,” he repeated, staring straight at her. “Asahd, I’m afraid,” she started. “What do you want me to do? I can’t break the engagement. What valuable reason will I give my father? He’s so happy.”

I don't remember ever being happy. I did meet my mate. He wasn't anything special. No status. I know I'm destined to be royalty, so I rejected him. Even if you do not know the concept of mates, don't you realize that you're very attracted to me?” the prince asked if rest lips curved into a mischievous smirk.

Prince Deacon told her. “But I want you to be my fated mate,” Princess Freda protested. Prince Deacon took a deep breath. “I have my work cut out for me.” “I refuse to be fated with anyone besides you,” Princess Freda said stubbornly. “That is what you say now but I promise you that when you meet your fated mate and claim him as your forever mate you won't even remember why you wanted me in the first place,” Prince Deacon said, pulling her to continue their walk.

He looked just as confused as I felt, he couldn’t scent me either. I refused to accept this reality. He was meant to be mine! I claimed him as my mate despite knowing deep down that it wasn’t true. After all, he was everything, a powerful and wealthy man, and I wouldn’t settle for anyone less than him. I valued my reputation enough to know that I wouldn't wait around to be mated to a son of a filthy, poor pesant.Even without the mate bond, my feelings for the prince were real, they didn’t depend on some mystical connection.
