But beneath that gentle exterior, her eyes gleamed with calculation. Her words, however, were considerate and selfless.
Benjamin stroked her hand, his heart softening further. The more he thought about how Nissa dared to pull such a dirty trick to frame Charlotte, the more disgusted he felt toward his mute wife.
"Don't be afraid," he said. "I'll stand up for you. I'll make her kneel and apologize."
Two days later, with Charlotte's mood stabilized, Benjamin returned home.
