It was remembering me. A sharp wave of pain suddenly tore through my head, so intense that my vision blurred instantly. I gasped and bent forward, both hands pressing harder against my skull as if I could physically hold my thoughts together. My breath turned shallow, panicked, uneven. I could feel my heartbeat in my ears, loud and erratic, like it was trying to escape. And then I heard it. Whispers. Not from outside the room. From inside my mind.
