Was I so bad in my past life that this is how my life is now? Well, whatever the answer to all the questions that keep bothering me in my mind, I have no choice but to accept it. I will endure this for daddy. I don't want him to go to jail, so I will do everything just to prevent that from happening. It's just a two-year contract. I can still endure it. I can still bear being with my annoying husband. Yes, that's right! I can and I will. I have to be stronger. Not just for myself but also for daddy and my dreams.

Then, the salesman lost all interest in entertaining Zayn. As for the other salespeople, when they saw that Zayn was dressed very plainly, they thought that he was obviously an ordinary salaryman instead of a wealthy person, thus they deemed that he was incapable of affording a luxury car like an Audi and did not even bother entertaining him anymore to not waste their time. Zayn merely smiled calmly in the face of the salespeople’s coldness since he had grown used to such treatment and actually preferred the peace. However, he still could not find Alexandra after he scanned the area. ‘Where has this girl run off to this time?’

I outran, or out manoeuvred them each time until the day my luck ran out. I had a sale to make. It was a rough part of the neighborhood and I planned to get in and get out. The buyer was a fat man in his forties. His hair was thinning and he stank of stale bear and old shoes. He kept me longer than I wanted, looking for his wallet in the folds of his jacket and after finding it, reading his precious time counting the bills out. I tried to hurry him but he got cross which only served to waste my time more. Finally, the bills were complete and I snatched them from him. I didn't bother counting, I just needed to get out of there. I had a bad feeling in my stomach.

I feel so uncomfortable thinking about how a poor lady has worn the clothes that I like. "Don't buy it if you don't feel good about it. What I have is money. We can buy anything else you like," the fat man said pompously. The sales attendant noticed the deal was about to go bust. She panicked, pointed at Sasha, and scolded, "Take it off now! "Both of you have to take full responsibility if this lady doesn't want it anymore. No one can leave! "I allowed you to try out of goodwill to satisfy your unrealistic conceit, and this is how you repay me. Do you even have a heart?"

The clear glass counter looks like it's rigged with alarms that will go off if you touch it, summoning security. I glance down, and Mark tries to get the salesman's attention by clearing his throat. The salesman says, "I feel terrible. I'll be with you right away, sir." His voice sounds oddly familiar, as if I've heard it before.

“I’m an—” “Entrepreneur, right?” Charles interrupts with a smirk. “You own several hotels and resorts in the city. Yeah, that’s the story you sell to the government, to the masses. But we both know this, is all just a front.” My anger is visible, but I supress it. I’ve learned to control the fire, to keep my composure. “You think you’re untouchable, don’t you?” I say with a lowered voice. “If you want to die, then go ahead—lay your filthy fingers on me.”

~ALINA’S POV~ “What?” Jade barked, her voice climbing an octave. “You’re bluffing. There’s no way you can afford that. You’re just trying to make us feel small.” “Oh please,” Ethan added, crossing his arms. “You probably don’t even have a hundred bucks in your account. You’re just a broke bitch with a loud mouth.” The salesman looked between us, clearly uncomfortable. “Ma’am… are you still interested in the purchase?” I arched a brow. “I already said I am. Go ahead.”

His face was ashen, his eyes glassy with terror and shame. “This is my fault,” he whispered. “Everything… all of it.” Amelia rushed to him, kneeling in front of him, gripping his trembling hands. “No. Don’t say that. He’s doing this because he’s cruel.” Mr. Philip shook his head weakly. “I sold you to him,” he said, tears streaming freely now. “I thought I was saving you. I thought… I thought I had no choice.” Amelia swallowed the lump in her throat. “You were desperate. That doesn’t make you evil.”

She stepped inside, her heels clicking softly against the polished marble floor, and her eyes immediately landed on him. Nathan stood near the edge of the room, his back to her, shirtless and glistening with sweat. The muscles of his shoulders and back rippled as he toweled off, the fabric of his workout shorts clinging to his hips. Emma’s breath caught in her throat. She had seen glimpses of his physique before—the tailored suits he wore left little to the imagination—but this was something else entirely. He was raw, unguarded, and utterly breathtaking.
