“It’s not like that, Aien,” I said softly, placing my hand over where his rested on his knee. Though, truly, I did not know. My ideas of appropriateness came from my mother’s court, which although it shared its realm with the fairy brethren, held to predominantly human ideas of behavior. “Dragons aren’t like that.”
“But you are not just a dragon, Daethie,” he said with unusual darkness. For a moment, I could see the man his father was reputed to be on his face. “You are also a princess.”
